Louisville Mother and Daughter Making it their Mission to Feed JCPS Students

< 1 min read

Liz Cruson and her mother Debbie are actively involved with Blessings in a Backpack Louisville Chapter, a nonprofit dedicated to feeding Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) students over weekends. Liz has volunteered for five years, witnessing firsthand the impact of hunger on children in the community. Inspired by Liz’s dedication, Debbie funded an entire elementary school in JCPS for the upcoming year, ensuring every student in the Blessings in a Backpack program at that school receives weekend meals. The nonprofit faced challenges due to funding cuts, impacting thousands of children, but individuals like Debbie are stepping in to support nearly 80,000 eligible students in Jefferson County.
