The Duval County School Board has updated its school bus policy shortly before the upcoming school year. Under the new policy, middle and high school students residing less than two miles from their assigned schools will no longer qualify for school bus transportation. This distance is now extended from the previous limit of one and a half miles. Additionally, students may need to walk an extra half mile to reach their designated bus stops. The changes, affecting approximately 1,100 students, are being implemented to comply with state regulations. Families impacted by the new rules will receive direct notifications from the district, which encourages prompt registration for bus transportation ahead of the August 12 school start date.
