Children’s Spotlight of the Week: Cavanaugh Bell – A Champion for Positivity and Change

At just 10 years old, Cavanaugh Bell is already making waves and inspiring people worldwide with his incredible passion and drive for making the world a better place. Founder and Chief Positivity Creator of the nonprofit Cool & Dope, Cavanaugh is on a bold mission to end all bullying by 2030—when he turns 18. But that’s not all; his kindness, leadership, and activism have led to widespread recognition and impactful change, showing us all that you don’t have to be big to be a giant.

Growing up in Gaithersburg, Maryland, Cavanaugh experienced bullying at just five years old. The pain of feeling isolated and at fault ignited a fire in him to ensure no other child would feel the same darkness. His solution? Give kids the leadership opportunities they need to speak up and stand against bullying. Cavanaugh’s goal is clear: empower children with a voice so they know they matter and can make a difference, no matter their age.

Cavanaugh’s work goes far beyond bullying prevention. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he spent his entire life savings—$600—to create care packages for seniors and essential workers in his community. From that humble start, Cavanaugh went on to launch the Love is Greater Than COVID-19 Community Pantry, which has since served over 15,000 people. Through his initiative, he even sent $32,000 worth of critical supplies to Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota, one of the poorest communities in the nation.

When asked about what drives him, Cavanaugh keeps it simple yet powerful: “Making a difference means giving back to others because it makes them feel good, and it makes you feel good inside, too.”

Cavanaugh’s efforts haven’t gone unnoticed. He’s been recognized by prominent figures such as Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, Vice President Kamala Harris, and President Joe Biden. He’s even partnered with Procter & Gamble’s Ivory brand to distribute care packs that include essential items and heartfelt notes to seniors, spreading kindness to those who need it most.

In Cavanaugh’s own words, “I want a world where kids know they have a voice, where we can be ourselves without worrying about being made fun of, and where people really listen to each other.” He’s a living example of that vision, and with limitless compassion, this young change-maker is showing the world that positivity, kindness, and love can make an extraordinary difference.
