Sydney Weston, an 8-year-old girl from Missouri, died in June while on a flight to Chicago due to “complications of chronic primary adrenalitis in the setting of multiple infections,” including Strep and Enterovirus. Peoria County coroner Jamie Harwood’s assessment, based on an autopsy and medical records, indicated Weston also had duodenitis and thyroiditis, suggesting an underlying autoimmune disorder. Weston became unresponsive during the flight, which was diverted to Peoria, where she was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Her family remembered her for her joy and love for life.
