In a startling revelation, the Katsina State Police Command has uncovered a kidnapping syndicate involving a 14-year-old girl who conspired with three others to abduct her four-year-old sister and fake her abduction in a plot to extort ₦50 million from their family.

The shocking incident was brought to light during a press briefing by the command’s spokesperson, Abubakar Sadiq, who explained that the case was first reported on February 20, 2025.

According to the report filed by one Alhaji Badamasi Bala of Madaci Yan Nono Quarters, Katsina, his two daughters, aged 14 and 4, had gone missing. Shortly after, a ransom note demanding ₦50 million was delivered, prompting immediate action from law enforcement.

Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, swiftly deployed the command’s anti-kidnapping unit to investigate the matter. Four months later, the 14-year-old girl reappeared.

Upon interrogation, she confessed to orchestrating the kidnapping alongside three accomplices aged 25, 19, and 16. She admitted to faking her abduction while facilitating the kidnapping of her younger sister.

Following her confession, the police apprehended all co-conspirators and successfully rescued the four-year-old child unharmed. During the investigation, a live round of 7.62mm ammunition was also recovered from the suspects.

CP Bello Shehu commended the investigating officers for their diligence and professionalism in cracking the case. He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to help in the ongoing fight against crime across the state.
