Isle of Sheppey Murder: Three Children Accused of Killing Man Using Bottle and Rocks

Three children have been accused of the murder of a 49-year-old man on the Isle of Sheppey. Kent Police said two boys, aged 14 and 15, and a 16-year-old girl were charged with murder by joint venture following the death of Alexander Cashford in the Warden Bay Road area of Leysdown-on-Sea on Sunday evening.
The teenagers, all from London, were arrested on Monday and charged the following day. They were remanded in custody to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court. A 12-year-old girl, arrested in Basildon, Essex, remains in custody.
Mr Cashford, who locals said was visiting on holiday, was pronounced dead at the scene after an air ambulance was called. Police are appealing for witnesses and information via the major incident public portal or Crimestoppers.
Even in cases involving serious allegations, children accused of crimes have rights under the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. They are entitled to a fair trial, legal representation, privacy protections, and treatment that respects their dignity while aiming for rehabilitation and reintegration into society.
