London Nursery Hack: Two Teens Arrested Over Leaked Children’s Data

Two 17-year-old boys have been arrested after a cyber-attack on Kido nurseries in London exposed the personal details of around 8,000 children.

The teenagers were detained in Hertfordshire on suspicion of computer misuse and blackmail after hackers stole names, photos, and addresses of pupils.

The group behind the attack, known as Radiant, demanded £600,000 in Bitcoin and later posted some of the stolen data on the darknet, a move described by experts as a “new low” in cybercrime.

The hackers even contacted parents directly to pressure the nursery chain into paying the ransom before later claiming to have deleted the files.

Met Police’s Head of Economic and Cybercrime, Will Lyne, said the arrests were a “significant step forward” but assured parents the investigation is ongoing. Kido welcomed the swift police action, pledging continued cooperation and support for affected families.

This case reveals two sides of vulnerability: the children whose data was exposed and the teenagers now facing justice. Every child has the right to privacy and protection from exploitation, and those in conflict with the law also have the right to rehabilitation.
