Sokoto Police Rescue 10-Year-Old Boy Found Alive Inside Sack After Alleged Abduction
A 10-year-old boy was rescued by the police in Sokoto State after they discovered him in a sack during an operation after he was reported missing.
The boy, identified by police as Muhammad Sufiyanu, was reportedly abducted in Gidan Madi Town, Tangaza Local Government Area, on August 11.
The child’s disappearance was reported at the Gidan Madi Police Station around 8pm, police said. A search operation was then conducted by detectives with the child’s uncle.
Officers reportedly caught two individuals on a motorcycle about three hours later with a hidden bag. The suspects were allegedly running away when challenged, leaving behind the sack.
A search was conducted and the missing boy was found inside. He was conscious and responsive and was rushed to Gidan Madi General Hospital for treatment, before being released, police said.
The police say the child told investigators that one of the suspects had brought him into a room, drugged him with a sedative and forced him into the sack before trying to move him.
One suspect has been arrested in connection with the case and is reportedly assisting investigators. Police are also working to see if anyone else was involved, and have also been investigating a site connected to the incident.
The case illustrates the dangers children may encounter when they are targeted by individuals who want to kidnap them. It also highlights the need for prompt reporting of a child’s disappearance, as early action can be crucial to a safe recovery.
Investigations are ongoing, and police are trying to catch additional suspects, police said.
