February 27 2024- A new study by Teach Simple has named New Mexico as the least educated state in the United States, with an academic score of 14.21 out of 100 and an overall index score of 23.9 out of 100. The study evaluated each state based on 18 factors, including average test scores, adult learning rates, library book borrowing, early school leaving, and educational attainment among 18 to 24-year-olds and individuals over 25. The assessment aimed to gauge the standard of education in each state, with New Mexico ranking the lowest in this study.
