March 2 2024- Federal charges against a Roanoke man, Stephen-Karl Johnson, accused of threatening students at Patrick Henry High School, have been dropped, and a similar Roanoke city charge has also been dismissed, as per Commonwealth’s Attorney Don Caldwell. The dismissal is based on evidence suggesting a 15-year-old, also charged, disseminated the threats, and there is no longer sufficient evidence linking Johnson to the crime. Investigations are ongoing into the relationship between Johnson and the juvenile, with the possibility of charges being revisited if new evidence emerges. Johnson had allegedly accessed a Snapchat community used by students for issuing threats. Threats persisted even after his arrest but ceased after seizing electronic devices connected to the arrested teenager.
