A council issued an apology after parents at Aboyne Primary were offered the option to choose class photos either with or without children with complex needs. Complaints arose after parents received a link from a photography company providing alternative pictures. Aberdeenshire Council clarified that the decision was not made by the school, and the link was promptly removed. Tempest Photography, the company involved, stated that they are investigating the incident and have spoken to both the photographer and the school. Despite photos being taken with all pupils present, parents were still given the option of both versions. One parent expressed shock and disbelief at the choice to exclude children with additional support needs. Aberdeenshire Council emphasized that every child should be included in school experiences and stated that the issue was unacceptable and being addressed with the photography company directly.
