< 1 min read

The Covid-19 pandemic has led to a rise in mental health challenges among children, according to school leaders and mental health professionals at a secondary school in Wales. They report an increase in anxiety, self-harm, and eating disorders among students. Additionally, the number of pupils classified as persistently absent from classes has doubled in Welsh secondary schools. At Ysgol John Bright in Llandudno, Conwy county, Millie Jones, who oversees the inclusion zone, notes that asking children about self-harm has become a common practice. The inclusion zone provides support for students who are currently struggling to cope in regular classes. The Welsh government has emphasized that school attendance is a national priority.
