March 21 2024- In this article, it is reported that teachers and teacher aides working in special education schools will experience a significant increase in their salaries, ranging from 12% to 17% starting as early as this year. By 2026, special education (SPED) teachers can anticipate monthly salaries ranging from S$3,000 to over S$7,000, while teacher aides will see their pay between S$2,000 and S$4,000. Additionally, starting salaries for teachers could reach up to S$3,600 before they pursue a diploma, and aides may receive up to S$2,100. The Education Ministry stated that this salary adjustment aims to make the teaching profession in special education more attractive and to cultivate a skilled workforce.
