Australia urgently needs over 20,000 additional early childhood educators to meet current and future staffing demands, according to a new report by Commissioner for Jobs and Skills Australia, Professor Barney Glover AO. The study, which includes 28 findings and 41 recommendations, highlights that the sector, employing about 200,000 workers, requires an 8% increase in staff to achieve sustainable levels and another 8% to address unmet service demand. The report emphasizes the importance of supporting diverse communities and remote areas to ensure equitable early childhood education.
