A former teacher at Broad Ripple Middle School described the school year as unexpected and challenging, noting she resigned earlier this year. Since the start of the school year, over 100 employees have left Indianapolis Public Schools, including at least eight from Broad Ripple. The school has faced significant safety concerns, with reports of students feeling scared to attend classes and walk the hallways. The teacher witnessed fights, disrespectful behavior towards staff, and described the environment as unsafe. She recalled an incident where a student sought refuge in her classroom, trembling and afraid to leave. The middle school operates in the former Broad Ripple High School building, which she claimed was not adequately prepared for reopening.
