Sukesy Mattar, who enjoyed a holistic education in Kuwait, found the transition to Singapore’s exam-focused system jarring. Dissatisfied with mainstream and costly international schools, she homeschooled her children, three of whom completed their O-Levels and moved on to mainstream junior colleges or polytechnic. Her fourth child is currently homeschooled, and her youngest attends a special education school. Similarly, Anju Tupili chose homeschooling after witnessing her son’s exhaustion from mainstream school demands, deciding to prioritize a more flexible lifestyle for her children.
