A new report has identified links between higher maternal stress, excessive screen time, and increased behavioral problems in children. The study, using data from the Growing Up in New Zealand project, found that preschoolers with over four hours of screen time per day exhibited more behavioral issues, independent of socio-economic factors. Additionally, lower family income contributed to higher maternal stress, which was also associated with more behavioral problems in children. Dr. Jaimie Monk from Motu Research discussed the study’s focus on how income affects children’s behavioral, social, and emotional development.
