Twelve-year-old Faith Ng developed a deep passion for English literature through a high-ability learner programme at Fairfield Methodist School (Primary). This programme, which allowed her to engage in critical analysis of literature such as Kate DiCamillo’s Flora and Ulysses, greatly enhanced her enthusiasm for the subject. Her positive experience is set to expand as the Ministry of Education (MOE) plans to increase the number of high-ability learners participating in such programmes from 7% to 10% of all primary school pupils, roughly 3,000 students annually.
