Dolly Parton Book Scheme Expands in County

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is expanding Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to provide free books to all children under five in the region. Initially available only to certain groups, the scheme will now reach every child thanks to a £500,000 investment. Launched in the UK in 2007, the library sends a book each month to children, including a mix of traditional stories, well-known titles, and new publications. The council aims to enhance early childhood development and will also tailor the program for children with special educational needs and disabilities. Books will be distributed by mail and through local nurseries and childcare providers.
