One in Four School Starters in Nappies, Charity Says

A report by the early years charity Kindred reveals that one in four children starting school in September will be unprepared for toilet training, causing teachers to spend a third of their time addressing toileting issues rather than teaching. The Bristol charity ERIC, specializing in children’s bladder and bowel health, has launched an “emergency intervention” campaign due to a significant increase in the problem this year. ERIC CEO Juliette Rayner noted that this year’s situation is particularly severe, partly due to children starting school who were born during the pandemic and may have missed crucial social development.
