Father says School District Changed Transportation Services for Student with Disability

Howard County Public Schools informed the parents of a 6-year-old with Triple X syndrome, Mina Salgado, that it will no longer provide curb-to-curb transportation from her home to school, despite offering this service last year. The district has changed its interpretation of the student’s individualized education plan (IEP), stating that “curb to curb” now means Mina must either walk several blocks to a bus stop or use an Uber. Mina, who faces challenges such as physical disabilities and learning delays, previously received transportation directly from her front door as part of her IEP. Her parents are now considering legal action to restore this service.
