Eleven families are suing the Orange County school district after a video surfaced showing a teacher allegedly mistreating special needs students at Carver Elementary School in Santa Ana. The video, recorded on a student’s tablet, shows the teacher yelling at and mocking the children. Alma Moreno, a parent of a special needs child, expressed shock and heartbreak upon viewing the footage, as she had trusted the school to provide a safe learning environment for her daughter, who has autism. Moreno had noticed her daughter’s behavior changing, which raised concerns about potential mistreatment, especially since many of the children in the class are nonverbal.
