In Alabama, finding high-quality, affordable early child care can be challenging, but a growing program called 3by3 aims to expand at-home day care centers to provide more care options for parents and support the workforce. Led by Holly Glasgow, director of child development at Shelton State Community College, the program seeks to address the shortage of licensed child care centers in Tuscaloosa County. With fewer than 50 licensed centers and about 3,000 available spots for over 12,000 children under age 5, the program hopes to fill the gap in child care availability.
