A child care program in southern Maine, Windham Raymond School Aged Child Care, received a routine inspection earlier this year and was cited for three minor issues: a slightly too-warm refrigerator, misplaced employee paperwork, and a missing pair of tweezers in the first aid kit. After addressing these issues, program director Hannah Marshall thought little of it. However, over the summer, the center received a notice from its liability insurance company stating it would drop the program’s coverage, despite the program’s licensing and accreditation not being at risk.
