Kaitlyn Porter, an agricultural educator from Sheffield, Iowa, earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in agricultural and life sciences education. She has taught at West Fork since 2016 and previously at North Union. Porter became an ag teacher because it allowed her to combine her passions for teaching, agriculture, and FFA, though she briefly explored agronomy internships in college. In addition to teaching, she farms and runs a meat business. Influenced by her supportive parents and high school ag teacher, Ron Zelle, she pursued a career in agriculture. She believes the best traits for ag students include a strong work ethic, critical thinking, and leadership skills.
