The Tolleson Union High School District is facing criticism for allegedly misusing taxpayer funds on luxury administrator retreats. Documents reveal the district spent at least $77,000 on retreats at four-star resorts in Sedona and Tucson, including over $22,000 on catering for a two-day event. The retreats were criticized for excluding the public from meetings that were meant to be open. The Goldwater Institute, which obtained the documents, argued that this money could have been better spent on teacher salaries and student programs. At one retreat, administrators also posed for a photo with oversized caps to highlight their work.
