March 4 2024- A sixth-grade social studies lesson at Fort Settlement Middle School in Fort Bend ISD is facing criticism for an offensive portrayal of the Middle East. The presentation included a slide featuring the September 11, 2001 attacks, ISIS terrorists, and the Quran, the Muslim Holy Book. One sixth-grader expressed feeling unfairly portrayed. Following complaints from multiple parents, Fort Bend ISD officials removed the slide and conducted a thorough investigation in response to the concerns.
