The Lagos State Sexual Offences & Domestic Violence Court Sentenced, Michael Mowete, a School Bus Driver to Life Imprisonment for Defiling a 3 Year Old Child. Justice Rahman Oshodi presided over the case and found that the prosecution proved the charge of defilement beyond reasonable doubt. The survivor, despite her young age, provided direct evidence by narrating the incident to the court. The survivor’s testimony was corroborated by her mother’s account and medical examination evidence. The incident occurred on September 27, 2019, when Mowete dropped the child off at her mother’s shop. The child told her mother that “Uncle Michael touched my bum bum and jumped on me.” Medical examination revealed evidence of recently repeated blunt force penetration of the vagina.
