The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has released data on student loan applications by state of origin. Launched by President Bola Tinubu in July, NELFUND provides loans for tuition, fees, and maintenance, with repayment starting two years after completing the NYSC program.
- Top Applicants: Kano State leads with 17,122 applications out of 20,814 registered students. Borno State follows with 13,798 applications from 16,353 students.
- Other Notable States:
- Benue: 11,754 applications from 16,127 students.
- Oyo: 8,990 applications from 14,086 students.
- Kaduna: 10,380 applications from 13,873 students.
- Katsina: 10,952 applications from 13,538 students.
- Low Representation: Institutions in the Southeast region are notably absent from the list of beneficiaries.
