Prof. Obiajulu Emejulu, the outgoing Executive Director of the National Institute for Nigerian Languages, expressed satisfaction with recent advancements at the institute. In his valedictory press briefing, Emejulu announced that the National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the institute to offer full-time degree programs in affiliation with Nnamdi Azikiwe University starting from the 2024/2025 academic session. Additionally, the National Commission for Colleges of Education has granted full accreditation for the institute to run NCE programs and award certificates. The institute has also expanded its academic programs to cover a range of Nigerian languages, including Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba, and others.
