JAMB Sets New Rules For Students’ Matriculation

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has implemented new regulations for matriculation ceremonies in Nigerian tertiary institutions. During the 2024 Policy Meeting on Admissions into Tertiary Institutions in Abuja, JAMB Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyede directed institutions to notify JAMB, NUC, NBTE, and NCCE of their matriculation ceremonies and submit matriculation lists. Institutions must provide two weeks’ advance notice to JAMB before conducting matriculation ceremonies. Oloyede emphasized that institutions failing to submit their matriculation lists would not be considered for degree awarding. He also stressed the use of JAMB’s CAPS and IBASS systems for admissions communications, noting a transition to automated processes for greater efficiency.
