The Lagos State Government continued its crackdown on illegal structures around school premises, extending the operation to Ikotun on Wednesday. Enforcement teams from the Ministry of the Environment and the Environmental Taskforce removed unauthorized structures at Community Senior Grammar School after serving prior notice to the occupants. Residents have alleged that some local officials are involved in renting out these illegal spaces and collecting levies from traders. They argue that until penalties are imposed on those facilitating these illegal setups, the problem will persist, with structures reappearing after demolitions. This follows similar recent actions by the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps in other areas.
