Akintunde Sawyerr, Managing Director of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), expects between 250,000 to 300,000 applications for the student loan scheme this year. In an interview with Channels TV, Sawyerr noted that applications from the non-academic sector might be lower initially as that part of the scheme is starting. He reassured that NELFUND has sufficient budget to cover all two million students currently enrolled in tertiary institutions nationwide, emphasizing that the loan is available not only to prospective students but also to those already enrolled in public and private institutions.
