Jacob Alonge, a 58-year-old inmate of Benin Correctional Centre in Edo State who had escaped during the 2020 #EndSARS protest, has been apprehended by the State Police Command. Alonge, convicted of raping his daughter Gift Alonge and sentenced to 21 years imprisonment by the Edo High Court, had previously made threats regarding the case’s outcome. Tragically, Gift Alonge and other potential witnesses perished in a mysterious accident while the trial was ongoing. Acting on credible intelligence, the State Police Commissioner, Funsho Adegboye, disclosed that Alonge was located in Ossos, Akoko-Edo local government area of the state.
