In anticipation of a nationwide protest, the Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, has instructed Vice Chancellors to prioritize the safety and security of staff and students. A circular from Chris Maiyaki, Acting Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), dated July 28, advised Vice Chancellors to implement measures ensuring the safety of their campuses and to provide reassurances to their communities. The minister also urged students to stay on campus and concentrate on their studies to avoid potential risks associated with the protests.
