‘Solarised oxygen plant, newborn unit will reduce neonatal mortality rates’

Cristian Munduate, UNICEF’s Country Director in Nigeria, and Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State inaugurated a state-of-the-art solar-powered oxygen plant and Level Two Newborn Unit at Jericho Hospital, Ibadan. This facility aims to reduce neonatal mortality rates and improve health outcomes for vulnerable infants. Governor Makinde highlighted the significance of the project in his sustainable healthcare agenda, emphasizing that the renewable energy-powered plant ensures an uninterrupted oxygen supply for life-saving interventions. He praised the collaboration between stakeholders and international partners, including UNICEF, IHS Towers, the Governments of Norway and Canada, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, for their role in achieving sustainable development.
