February 29 2024- At the age of 11, the author’s younger sister, Hanna, faced complications during surgery, leading to a lengthy recovery period. To support Hanna and spend more time with her, the author and their family decided to enroll in a tuition-free online charter school program starting in fifth grade. The flexibility provided by online education allowed the family to adapt to Hanna’s needs and create a more personalized learning experience. The author, now a high school junior, highlights the importance of public school choice, emphasizing how it enables students to tailor their education to achieve individual goals.
