Two students’ quick thinking and bravery helped stop a runaway school bus after the driver had a medical emergency.
On Wednesday morning, the bus went off the road at Hanover Blvd. and Collier Lane in Burlington, Kentucky. According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, four students and the bus driver were taken to the hospital.
Two Cooper High School Students, Micah Jones and Karter Dearwester, kept the scary situation from becoming a tragedy.
“I was looking out the window, and we were getting closer to the mailbox,” Dearwester said. “I looked up and saw the driver leaning over, not looking at the road, and it wasn’t normal. We were coming up on a stop sign and weren’t slowing down.”
