As Thanksgiving nears, families and students in the Socorro Independent School District participated in a festive Turkey Trot at Vista Del Sol Environmental Science Academy. On Monday morning, students ran or walked with family members for a chance to win frozen turkeys and attend a “chocolate party.” Seven frozen turkeys were raffled off, one for each grade level. The event aimed to promote physical activity as a lifelong habit, with PE teacher Justine Farmer emphasizing the importance of staying active. Teachers who completed the most laps won pies as additional rewards.
