After special ed teachers leave Durham-Middlefield schools, report finds ‘culture of fear’

A Board of Education oversight committee report examining reasons behind the resignations of five special education teachers has revealed a pattern of actions by administrators that has created a “significant culture of fear.”

Between the spring and summer of last year, special ed teachers who spent an average of 12 years working for Regional School District 13, which serves Durham and Middlefield, left their jobs for other employment.
