Lagos cracks down on after-hours lessons in public schools

The Lagos State Government has taken a firm stance against teachers or schools that exceed the official closing hour for extra lessons, a practice for which they are paid by students. Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Jamiu Alli-Balogun, reiterated this position during the inauguration of a new block of classrooms and furniture at the Amuwo-Odofin Junior High School Complex. This move reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring adherence to educational standards and preventing exploitation of students for additional teaching hours.
