March 18 2024- Atherton High School in Louisville, Kentucky, implemented its weapons detection system for the first time on Tuesday, causing lines to form outside the school as students underwent the new security measures. According to reports, attendance was taken approximately 30 minutes later than usual to accommodate the delays caused by the system. Jefferson County Public Schools enlisted the services of Johnson Controls to install the high-tech weapon detection systems in phases, with plans to have them installed in all middle schools by the beginning of the 2024-25 school year.
