Abia State Government, determined to reduce the number of out-of-school children, has announced sanctions for parents and guardians who fail to enroll their children in school. Governor Alex Otti made this announcement during this year’s Children’s Day celebration at Umuahia Township Stadium. He emphasized that it is now considered an offense not to enroll school-age children in school and described the current situation of non-enrollment as unacceptable. Governor Otti stated that the government will no longer tolerate this behavior and will support the policy with legislation from the State House of Assembly, prescribing penalties for offenders.
