Aminat Alege, a 12-year-old girl, was struck in the eye by a teargas canister allegedly fired by a police officer during a disturbance involving students from two schools in Lagos on February 9, 2024. Aminat, born on April 1, is described as bright and the first child of her family. She was heading to the mosque with her mother after school when the incident occurred. Aminat hid beside a car but was hit by the canister, and a policeman took her to the station before transferring her to the hospital.
