Investigation Discovery’s docuseries Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV has become a ratings hit, prompting the release of a fifth bonus episode. The series delves into toxic allegations against Dan Schneider during his time at Nickelodeon. The success of the initial four-part series, which aired on March 17 and 18, led to the bonus episode being greenlit and airing on April 7. This episode, titled Breaking the Silence, will feature more former Nickelodeon stars discussing their experiences and the industry’s future, led by Soledad O’Brien.
The series, viewed by around 20 million people, has sparked significant social media engagement and extended discussions about abuse in Hollywood, likened to a #MeToo movement for kids. The original episodes highlighted claims of abuse, sexism, and inappropriate behaviour involving Schneider, who has acknowledged some past behaviours and expressed regret. Directors Mary Robertson and Emma Schwartz remain committed to continuing the series, aiming to further explore these issues and support survivors.
