Shelter in Place Lifted at all Tecumseh Schools Following Reported Threat of Violence

Tecumseh Public Schools implemented a shelter-in-place on Tuesday due to a threat of violence after a disgruntled former student posted on social media, “I am going to shoot up the schools,” using a Tecumseh IP address. The district was alerted by Tecumseh police, who traced the IP address and found no weapons at the student’s home, determining the threat was not credible. Superintendent Matt Hilton clarified that the shelter-in-place allowed instruction to continue normally and emphasized that it was not a lockdown. He expressed concern about the rising trend of school threats, highlighting the anxiety it raises among parents regarding safety. The district plans to proceed with all scheduled activities and will take future threats seriously.
