DepEd Eyes ‘Flexi’ Implementation of Matatag Curriculum

The Philippine Department of Education (DepEd) is considering a more flexible implementation of the Matatag Curriculum to address the country’s learning gaps. Education Secretary Juan Edgardo Angara stated that, despite calls to remove it, the curriculum will remain but may be adjusted to reduce teacher burden. Principals will have the flexibility to adapt the curriculum based on their school’s specific needs and resources. Teacher groups have criticized the Matatag Curriculum for adding to their workload, with some teachers managing large class sizes and multiple subjects.
