Health Alert: Recall Issued for Infant Formula Due to Safety Concerns

A Washington-based company, Healthwest Minerals Inc., doing business as Mt. Capra Products, has recalled its goat milk formula recipe kit and urged consumers to stop using it as baby formula immediately. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced this decision due to concerns that the product does not meet FDA requirements for infant formula and may not provide sufficient nutrition. Infants consuming the recalled product without additional iron supplementation are at risk of developing iron deficiency anaemia and feeding intolerance. The recall affects 1,506 boxes of the Goat Milk Formula Recipe Kit sold between May 1, 2023, and May 1, 2024. The FDA notified Mt. Capra about a report of anaemia in one infant, which was attributed to the product being deficient in vitamin B12 and folate. The company recommends against using the product for infants under 12 months and advises consumers to dispose of or return the recalled products.
