Study Looks at How 15-year-olds Learn English

The accessibility of English language content through the internet, social media, and digital technologies has greatly increased exposure for today’s English students outside the classroom. However, a recent study suggests that teachers are skeptical about whether this digital exposure translates into improved English-speaking abilities among teenagers.

Conducted by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the study titled “How 15-Year-Olds Learn English” examines English language learning among teenagers in five countries: Finland, Greece, Israel, the Netherlands, and Portugal. The research involved visiting schools, observing English lessons, and conducting interviews with teachers, students, and school administrators to gather insights into the teaching methodologies and learning experiences.
