CBSE Issues Fresh Guidelines On Use Of NCERT Books In Schools

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has updated guidelines on using NCERT textbooks in schools, as per the affiliation Bye-Laws 2018. Schools should primarily use NCERT/SCERT textbooks and be cautious when selecting supplementary materials to avoid objectionable content. If private publishers’ books are used, they must not offend any group. Schools must list their prescribed books on their websites, accompanied by a declaration from the Manager and Principal confirming the review of content. Under proposed amendments, for grades 1 to 8, schools are encouraged to use NCERT/SCERT textbooks and ensure supplementary materials adhere to the National Curriculum Frameworks.
